Katarina was admitted as a barrister and solicitor in South Australia and the High Court in 1995, and was called to the bar in 2018.

Prior to commencing practice at the Bar, Katarina had an extensive career as an international lawyer, working mainly within the Office of the Legal Counsel of the United Nations at its headquarters in New York, where she advised on UN operations worldwide. In 2017, Katarina served as the Senior Legal Adviser for the OPCW-UN Investigative Mechanism, an independent body established by the UN Security Council, to investigate those responsible for the use of chemical weapons in Syria in 2016 and 2017.

Prior to her international work, Katarina acquired significant experience in conducting court work in South Australia, working as a Judge’s Associate in the Supreme Court of South Australia, as a prosecutor with the SA Office of the DPP, and as a lawyer for the SA Crown Solicitor’s Office. During this time, she conducted numerous trials in the criminal and civil jurisdictions, including before a range of administrative and disciplinary tribunals.

Katarina has a BA and an LLB with Honours from the University of Adelaide (1993), and an LLM with Merit from the London School of Economics and Political Science (2003).
